Los Angeles Clippers – LOSERS

Moves: Traded Lance Stephenson And First-Round Pick To MEM For Jeff Green

Typical Doc Rivers.

The Los Angeles Clippers are considered losers at the NBA Trade Deadline simply because Rivers gave up too much for Jeff Green. He gave a first-round pick for a player that may not even be on the team in five months. He’s essentially a rental.

Although, if Green comes in and suddenly finds his potential, this whole deal will be looked at different. Though, that’s highly unlikely. The 29-year-old Green will help the Clippers, but he’s not the missing piece for this team, unfortunately.

With that said, if the addition of Green means that we’ll see Paul Pierce take a step back, this will definitely help the team overall. Green is a solid NBA contributor, but by no means was he worth what the Clipper gave up to get him. Plus, there’s the whole fact of Rivers essentially announcing that he made a mistake this summer by signing both Josh Smith (who was traded to the Rockets earlier this season) and Stephenson.
