NBA Draft: 8 Interesting Prospects To Watch In Day 1 Of The NCAA Tournament
Tyler Ulis, Kentucky
(13) Stony Brook vs Kentucky (4) – Thursday, 9:40 PM (ET)
Tyler Ulis has all the makings of a really good pro. He would probably be a top 15 pick if he was a few inches taller. Being only 5-foot-9 has definitely hurt his NBA Draft stock, but he’s still projected to be a first round selection.
Ulis is the ultimate x-factor for the Wildcats. Similar to what Isaiah Thomas is doing with the Boston Celtics this season, Ulis has been that good for John Calipari. Averaging 17 points and seven assists, Ulis shoots 43 percent from the field and 34 percent from three-point range. He’s the engine that gets the Wildcats going on most nights, and allows players like Murray do what they do best.
We’re going to find out a lot about Ulis and his potential at the next level in this tournament, especially the deeper that Kentucky can go. I’m sure plenty of NBA scouts will be looking forward to see how Ulis performs against the best competition in college basketball.
