Will The Celtics’ Regular Season Success Translate?

I don’t think anyone would argue that the Boston Celtics didn’t have a great regular season, because they did. However, one has to wonder, especially after watching what made them so effective in the season, if their style will ultimately translate to the playoffs.

What the Celtics excel at – defense and forcing turnovers – isn’t always transferrable to the postseason. Thing is, in the playoffs, every team is playing relatively good defense and begin extra careful with the basketball. It might be tough to stand out simply by forcing turnovers and good defense.

That’s where stars come in, and usually become the difference-makers in playoff series. And that’s where the other problem for the Celtics comes to play – they don’t exactly have a “star.”

More than anything, it’s going to be interesting to see how the Celtics perform in the postseason. They’re better than the team that was swept by the Cavs in the playoffs last year, but we’re going to find out exactly how much better.
