Isaiah Thomas Leading Celtics Charge Against Hawks

NBA on TNT analyst Reggie Miller joked that once upon a time in Boston, the name Thomas was hated among the Celtics faithful due to the Hall-of-Fame bad boy from the Pistons.

Now, the unrelated Isaiah Thomas has grown into not only an NBA All-Star, but the new hope for one of the most storied franchises in basketball.

After his first All-Star Game appearance, he’s having a career moment as the Celtics have given the veteran Atlanta Hawks a battle in the first round.

The series is currently tied 2-2 with both teams gaining their victories at home. The biggest game of the series so far was on Sunday where the Celtics won in overtime behind a phenomenal game from Thomas and Marcus Smart.

Smart scored 13 of his 20 points in the second half and was given the assignment of guarding Paul Milsap who went off for a game high 45 points.

After a first round exit last season against the Cavaliers, a victory over the Hawks would be a huge step forward for the young squad. But as we’ve seen this series, Atlanta has no intention of going away quietly.
