5. Minnesota Timberwolves
Pick: Buddy Hield, G, Oklahoma
The Minnesota Timberwolves need a shooter, so they’re going to take arguably the best one on the board. Even though Buddy Hield is regarded as more than that, especially after his breakout senior season with Oklahoma, it would do him good joining a team like the Wolves.
Minnesota wouldn’t ask Hield to be the primary ball-handler or scorer; all he’d have to do is find a way to fit in. And he could do that – easily – with his excellent range and accuracy from deep.
Hield as a potential 6th or 7th man on this team would be dangerous. Let him help anchor the second unit and use his shooting in spots with some of the starters. Deadly. If he ultimately gets there, he could even be Ricky Rubio‘s eventual replacement.
