17. Memphis Grizzlies: Demetrius Jackson

The Memphis Grizzlies are stuck in the dreaded mid-tier of NBA teams. They were a non factor as one of the lower seeded playoff teams and they’re drafting at number 17. This team needs a direction, either up or down, and they need it soon.

Their biggest areas of concern currently exist on the wings, but that’s an area I see them trying to address in free agency instead. Instead I see them getting the first crack at the second tier of Point Guards available in this draft. With Mike Conley likely testing his value on the open market this summer, the Grizzlies have to find a potential replacement.

I like Demetrius Jackson with this pick. They haven’t yet named a replacement for David Joerger, but the athleticism Jackson comes with has to be an attractive commodity for nearly any possible system.
