6. New Orleans Pelicans: Kris Dunn

The New Orleans Pelicans were undoubtably one of the bigger disappointments in the NBA this past season. After soaring to the playoffs a year ago they garnered a lot of attention heading into this campaign. They fell flat early, and a lot of heat was put on the shoulders of the young Anthony Davis because he was unable to take the next step towards greatness many thought he would.

Now the Pelicans find themselves in limbo, with questions particularly surrounding their backcourt. Eric Gordon is an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and it is believed he’ll be looking to play the field. Tyreke Evans and Jrue Holiday aren’t all that far behind either, as both of their deals are set to expire after next season.

With the 6th pick this year, the New Orleans Pelicans would be wise to bring in the undisputed best Point Guard in the draft, Kris Dunn. He’s a good shooter, and solid distributor. He’d be an ideal pick & roll partner for Anthony Davis going forward, another level of depth that could only stand to improve the all-around improvement of the reigning 2K cover athlete.

Kris Dunn likely would see fewer minute than many of his fellow lottery selections in year one, but once Holiday’s contract expires I expect him to be groomed for the starting spot. This is a great situation for both parties involved.
