Dallas Mavericks

Notable Additions: Harrison Barnes, Andrew Bogut (via trade), Seth Curry

Free Agency Grade: C+

The Dallas Mavericks, as they always seem to do, set their sights high on this year’s free agency class. They envisioned signing both Mike Conley and Hassan Whiteside. In the end, the Mavs inked Harrison Barnes, traded for Andrew Bogut and Seth Curry (no, not that one).

It’s actually not a bad haul for the Mavs, but considering what they had in mind coming into this summer I can’t give them anything higher than a fair grade.

Perhaps most interestingly will be the development of Barnes. Is he ready to be the lead option on a team that desperately needs him to be? Who is going to get him the open shots? Can he be the best player on a good team?

We’ll all find out this season.
