6th Woman Of The Year: Jantel Lavender (LA Sparks)

If you open a book and look up the definition of a Sixth player, a picture of Jantel Lavender should be right there.

Considering the fact that Jantel Lavender actually started every game last season and all but seven games the year before, coming off the bench is no easy task. Lavender was a WNBA All-Star last year, and could easily be a starter elsewhere.

Just last week against the Connecticut Sun, she led the way for the Los Angeles Sparks with a 25 point and 10 rebound effort. Yet, Lavender has put the Los Angeles Sparks best interest first, and comes off the bench by filling a huge bench role, averaging 9.8 points per game so far this season.

"“We complement each other,” said Ogwumike, “Jantel [Lavender] can put up big numbers, Candace can put up big numbers. On any given night it can be anyone’s game.”"
