How the Knicks should approach the offseason
Draft and free agency
The recruitment method of the New York Knicks needs to be simply to draft the best player possible in the draft. Gain as many assets as possible and hopefully continue to hit their late rounds draft picks.
As stated before, the Knicks need to focus on being competitive when Porzingis is at his peak and to be able to do that you need to. Current mock drafts have the Knicks drafting either Dennis Smith Jr, or Lauri Markkanen with the 7th pick. Both are a good fit in the team, but fit must not be the main draft strategy.

Free agent wise, short-term priorities should be having a series of leaders in the locker room. They need the right veterans to help the young locker room. There are players like CJ Miles, Amir Johnson who could help.
Porzingis told Latvian media of Joakim Noah’s influence in the locker-room, and adding like-minded players is vital.
"“Noah was the guy who tried to talk, tried to help and spoke to coaches, too. But even he could not influence the wrong decisions we made. It was difficult. But Joakim is the guy — he maybe did not play at the level we all wanted, but he could say loud things others did not want to say.’’"
Combining this with sending out offers on restricted free agents such as Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Otto Porter, should be the plan. If they can land a prized restricted free agent to add to their core, the rebuild looks in a better sport. Talk of Porter has emerged in recent days, along with Michael Carter-Williams and Andre Roberson. The addition of these players could help add to the young players that are already in New York.
