Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics
I was very eager to see Jayson Tatum put on a Celtic uniform and show what he could do. He went out and proved that Ainge and the front office weren’t stupid for passing on Josh Jackson. Tatum might be the most polished guy out of college in this years draft class.
His footwork (thanks to Drew Hanlen) makes him look like he’s been in the league for five years. He has the ability to post up smaller guards in the paint and finish over the top, or hit a sexy mid range fade away.
After hitting the game winner early on in Summer League, he was asked in an interview about his shot selection. Tatum said he grew up watching Kobe moves, studied his footwork, and immulated part of Kobe’s game into his.
Jayson Tatum averaged 17 points and a surprising eight rebounds per game for the Celtics. His low post moves, advanced mid range game, and rebounding ability is why he landed himself a spot on the NBA Summer League All-Stars as a stretch forward.
