Cleveland makes two separate trades to get some defense

CLE gets- Deandre Jordan

LAC gets- Iman Shumpert, Tristan Thompson, first round pick (from Brooklyn)

CLE gets- Wesley Matthews, Nerlens Noel

DAL gets- Cedi Osman, Ante Zizic, J.R Smith, first round pick

So, the Cavaliers defense is so bad, they need to make two trades. They had another meltdown last night at Indiana. The first trade is the big one. Cleveland gets Deandre Jordan, who gives them some much-needed rim protection.

In return, they will have to sacrifice their Brooklyn pick, but Cleveland is all in on the win now and tries to get LeBron to stay campaign. Giving up the pick, Shumpert and Tristan Thompson is a fair price for DJ. Shumpert is always injured anyway, and Thompson has been inconsistent.

The Clippers make this trade for the Brooklyn pick; they don’t have a first-round pick. This trade can keep them relatively competitive for the last playoff spot in the west, while also getting a first.

The second trade is with the frisky Mavs. Cleveland would get Wesley Matthews and NErlesn Noel. Matthews isn’t the same player he once was, but he can defend and is an instant upgrade over JR Smith, who by the way has been awful this season. Noel can bring the Cavs some energy and rim protection off the bench behind DJ. These trades give the Cavs at least a puncher chance vs the Warriors. Even though it rips them of their first round picks, but if you want LeBron to stay, you have to make moves like this.

For the Mavericks, they cut bait with two players, who don’t fit their long-term plans. An extra first round pick is huge for a rebuilding team, plus they get two intriguing young prospects in Osman and Zizic. The only downside is taking JR Smith.
