12. Philadelphia 76ers (via Lakers) – Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, PG/SG, Kentucky
The Philadelphia 76ers should just trade this pick down. However, if they’re going to make this selection they take Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Alexander is a combo guard that can fill a major bench role for the 76ers.
Almost built from the Tomas Satoransky/ Shaun Livingston mold, Alexander is a 6-foot-5 combo guard with extremely long arms. He’s a pest defensively on ball even though he’s not a great team defender. His length and height allows Shai to bring some defensive versatility to Philly as well. He can create for others and himself with a silky smooth game.
The biggest question for Shai will be if he can become a consistent shooter so he can play alongside Ben Simmons. He’s currently knocking down 39 percent of his three’s, but does it on an extremely small value. Even though I love TJ McConnell, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander could give the 76ers an upgrade as a lead bench guard in the future.
