8. Rodney Hood, Cleveland Cavaliers
Stats: 14.7 points, 2.8 rebounds
Just for a moment, let’s think back to the pre-Cavs Rodney Hood and how well he was developing into arguably one of the better young players in the NBA – and, no, this is not a thinkpiece on how LeBron James makes stars lesser of players.
But Hood had improved every season with the Utah Jazz and was enjoying his best season to date, averaging nearly 17 points on 39 percent shooting from 3-point range.
His numbers took a bit of a hit with the Cleveland Cavaliers, mostly because he was asked to carry a less overall burden – he was taking more than five shots less per game in Cleveland.
Hood didn’t have the best showing in the playoffs, either, but his development shouldn’t be dwarfed by a bad few months in Cleveland.
