7. Rodney Hood, Cleveland Cavaliers
2017-18 Stats: 14.7 points, 38% 3PT
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that Rodney Hood didn’t have the best of stints with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and I don’t think anyone would argue against that. In fact, it’s the truth. He was so bad with the Cavs that he wasn’t even receiving minutes by the end of the NBA Playoffs.
With that said, it’s hard to play next to LeBron James and it’s not for everyone. So I don’t entirely blame Hood for his struggles in Cleveland. At the same time, we also shouldn’t ignore the season he was having with the Utah Jazz before he was traded.
Before landing with the Cavs, Hood was having his best statistical season to date. He was averaging 17 points per contest, on 39 percent from 3-point range. At only 25 years old, Hood’s best basketball is likely still ahead of him and teams shouldn’t let a few bad weeks of basketball get in the way of the career arc he was on before he was traded to Cleveland.
