SALT LAKE CITY, UT – APRIL 21: Paul George

Paul George, Oklahoma City Thunder

Paul George seemed like a good bet to be a Laker before the offseason began, but once the Lakers landed LeBron it seemed like that should only help L.A.’s pursuit of the All-Star.

However, George stunned everyone when he re-signed immediately with the Oklahoma City Thunder and made it clear that he had no desire to play for the organization he had been linked to for several seasons. For George, he passed up the chance to play for his favorite team growing up and teaming up with LeBron James to stay with a Thunder team that had went 48-34 this past season, with him.

George needs to do a better job this season in elevating his team. The departure of Carmelo Anthony should help the Thunder improve, as well as the return of Andre Roberson from injury. As long as the Thunder are better than the Lakers, then George’s decision shouldn’t face scrutiny.
