Nikola Jokic, Denver Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets big man is having the season of his career. 18.8 points, 10 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game all while helping his team maintain the 1st seed in the Western Conference. Nobody expected the Nuggets to be this hot coming into the season to the point where they have a better record than the reigning back-to-back champion Golden State Warriors.
Nikola Jokic has only been in the league 4 years and already is one of the best passing centers in the league. Many believe the Serbian was snubbed of an All-Star appearance last season and it is common consensus to think that he is a clear All-Star this year.
Each one of these players has a quality case and resume as to why they should make an appearance in mid-February. Yet it isn’t unheard of to find out that someone worthy of All-Star ranking gets snubbed for someone else. As time goes on more votes will accumulate and there may be a clearer picture as to whether or not one or more of these season leaders get nominated.
The time leading up to the game is nerve-racking for both fans and players alike. Other than voting all one can do is hope that any of these players get the appearance they deserve.
