An MIT graduate and an analytics guru, Daryl Morey, and his scouting staff have done a solid job trying to build a contender, following NBA life after Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming.

Most of the Rockets’ misses were before Morey’s arrival, in 2007, and though trading for James Harden definitely helped his team’s success, putting the correct pieces around him is still very vital.

Morey’s best pick by far has been Clint Capela, but in the mid-to-late 2000s, the Rockets drafting Brooks, Morris, Harrell, and a pre-injured Parsons didn’t turn out so bad either.
