7. Brooklyn Nets
One of the best stories in basketball right now is the unexpected rise to the playoffs from D’Angelo Russell and the Brooklyn Nets. Russell after being cast out by the Lakers is now the command in chief of the overachieving Nets averaging highs in points (21.1) assists (6.9) and field-goal percentage (.431) while acquiring his first All-Star appearance.
Russell has made him and his supporting cast better all around and a force to be reckoned with. After years and years of disparity, the Nets could actually be the team to upset one of the more superior squads in the East.
The Nets look like they are destined for a return to the playoffs and entering this season that’s not something that many expected to see.
