Klay Thompson, Golden State Warriors (free agent)

Klay Thompson is a free agent this summer, and is potentially the most interesting potential target for the Lakers. Even though he’s seen great success during his time as the second or third fiddle with the Golden State Warriors, you can’t help but wonder if he has any desire to head elsewhere to prove that he’s more than just another piece behind Stephen Curry and, now, Kevin Durant.

While it wouldn’t make sense for him to believe that and then to head to the Lakers and play behind, or next to, LeBron, the season that Los Angeles is coming off of does set the picture for Klay to come in and be somewhat of the savior – if that makes any sense.

Thompson would also be the ideal fit next to LeBron, and would benefit similarly to the way he has excelled with the Warriors through the first portion of his career. Plus, you can’t really hide his family connection to the Lakes, as his dad, Mychal, played for Los Angeles during the 1987-91 seasons.

Thompson making the move from Golden State to Los Angeles would make the Western Conference that much more juicy too. LeBron, plus Klay Thompson, and the Lakers are that much more interesting. And in the event that the Warriors have to pick between Durant and Thompson, it wouldn’t be surprised to see the Lakers swoop in and steal the latter.
