Looking back at Russell Westbrook‘s career will be interesting
Perhaps it’s a little overreactive at this point in his career but, as the Thunder struggle again to make it out of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs, I can’t help but wonder the arguments future basketball pundits will have about the career of the triple-double extraordinaire Russell Westbrook.
Westbrook has an NBA MVP under his belt, and is knowns as modern day Mr. Triple-Double, but he hasn’t exactly had the most playoff success since Kevin Durant elected to take his talents to the West Coast. In fact, he hasn’t won a playoff series since then and has done nothing but fail to live up to expectations.
He’s coming off a regular season where he enjoyed one of his worst shooting seasons, and really faded into the background of the excellent play of Paul George this season. As it stands, the Thunder are struggling with the Blazers, and Westbrook is clearly being outplayed by Damian Lillard.
The Westbrook/triple-double phenomenon was great initially, but will he ultimately be looked back as a stat compiler and nothing more?
