The Detroit Pistons are a team that is in a somewhat of an interesting position. They have a true superstar in Blake Griffin (when he’s healthy), but at the same time it feels they’re so far away from the likes of the Bucks, Celtics and 76ers in the Eastern Conference – as we saw first-hand in the first-round of the playoffs this season.
However, entering the draft, the Pistons should be looking to take a big swing here. At 15, there’s a very little chance that they’re going to find a rotation player initially. They might, and it’s happened before in the past, but it’s not entirely likely.
But taking a chance on a player like Kevin Porter Jr. could go a long way in this team potentially angling themselves into a squad that could potentially take another step forward. Porter Jr. didn’t exactly have the best of seasons at USC this past year, but has the talent to be a top 10 pick. That’s something the Pistons can’t afford to past them by, not matter what the chatter might be surrounding Kevin Porter Jr.
