With Collin Sexton already on the roster, the Cavs adding Carsen Edwards may not make the most sense, but the team doesn’t appear to be shying away from potentially drafting Ja Morant if he fell to them, so why not draft another dynamic point guard later in the draft.
Edwards had an amazing NCAA Tournament run, which was punctuated by a 40-point outburst in the Elite Eight that unfortunately still wasn’t enough for the Boilermakers to punch their ticket to the Final Four. Nevertheless, Edwards made his presence felt.
Quite frankly, it wouldn’t be all that surprising if Edwards wasn’t available at No. 26, with the way he could climb up the boards in the coming weeks. Edwards may not have the size as some of the other guards in this draft, but he certainly can play with them. Edwards is going to be a solid pick for any team selecting late in the first-round.
