Boston’s Struggling Offense
During the regular season, the Celtics had a top 10 offense. Even though they had moments of weaknesses, the winning outweighed their issues. They may not have been winning at the pace that many expected them to, but they were have a good season all things considered.
However, to start the post-season, the Celtics have fallen into some of their old familiar struggles. Amongst playoff teams, heading into April 24th’s action, the Celtics had the worst offensive rating among teams expected to advance to the second-round of the NBA Playoffs.
In Game 1 against the Pacers, the team failed to score 90 points. In Game 2, the team failed to score 100. In both those first two games, nothing was pretty about it – and perhaps you have to credit Indiana for slowing the game down.
Boston did recover well enough in Games 3 and 4, where their offense didn’t look all that prehistoric and unwatchable, but when you watch the Bucks and what they did against the Pistons on offense in the first round, it’s very clear that these two teams are playing very different brands of offensive basketball right now.
