A second first-round pick in the top 20 is never a good thing for a team that considers itself a contender, mostly because they don’t have much room to carry rookies on their roster, much less two of them. Nevertheless, Grant Williams will be the selection for the Celtics here at No. 20.

Williams, at Tenessee, averaged 19 points, nine rebounds and three assists on 56 percent shooting from the field. If there are any questions about his game, it’s about his size in playing the forward position and his ability to stretch a defense (which has become second nature for bigs at the next level).

Landing with the Celtics, he won’t be asked to carry much of the load right away, which should help, and he’d learn behind Al Horford and other veterans under Brad Stevens. Boston would be a great landing place for any young talent, even more so for a player that needs to find competitive advantages.
