Key subtractions: Dirk Nowitzki

The Dallas Mavericks may not have been big players in free agency this summer, but they certainly came away as somewhat of a disappointment after not coming away with any big-name free agents or even, arguably, their No. 1 target in Danny Green.

They also curiously pulled out of possibly landing Goran Dragic, who would’ve been an ideal fit next to Luka Doncic. Despite all that, there is a reason for optimism heading into the 2019-20 season.

Dallas should thank their lucky stars that they landed Kristaps Porzingis at the NBA Trade Deadline this past season because otherwise, they’d have some serious explaining to do to their fans.
