8. Derrick White, San Antonio Spurs

Dejounte Murray was expected to have a big season for the San Antonio Spurs this season, however, an injury quickly derailed that thought. It also opened the door for another no-name player to step up. And Derrick While did so and then some.

While he had a steady regular season, where he averaged 10 points and four assists per game, it was in the 2019 playoffs that he really showed out.

In a seven-game first-round series against the Denver Nuggets, White elevated his play, averaging a little over 15 points per game on nearly 55 percent from the field during the series. This included a 36-point masterpiece in a Game 3 victory.

It seems the Spurs have done it again and have found another draft day steal in Derrick White who looks to be a big part of San Antonio’s plan going forward.

Even if he doesn’t become an all-star caliber player, I still expect White to make a jump in his second season, upping his scoring to the 13-15 point range while handling an increased offensive load.
