Can Steph carry the team once again?

The Golden State Warriors have had a rough last few months, and that’s putting it nicely. After losing the NBA Finals to the Raptors (and Klay Thompson to a torn ACL in the process), the Warriors headed into the NBA offseason with one goal in mind – keep Kevin Durant. However, it appears that they never had a chance.

That’s because, on day 1 of NBA free agency, Kevin Durant announced that he would sign with the Nets. While the Warriors recovered (nicely?) by recouping D’Angelo Russell in a sign-and-trade with the Nets, there are real questions about this team heading into next season. The loss of Andre Iguodala (as a cap casualty) didn’t help matters either.

The big question for this team heading into the new season will revolve around whether Stephen Curry (along with the help of Russell and Draymond Green) will be able to carry the team into the playoffs and transform the team into a legit contender in the Western Conference.

Curry has done it before and at spurts with Durant, but now he’ll have to become the leader and superstar that makes his teammates better. And the success of the team will directly fall on his shoulders, something that he hasn’t had to deal with for a few years.
