Is Zion a generational talent?

The New Orleans Pelicans were rewarded for their patience when it came to trading Anthony Davis. Instead of taking a shorthand offer at the NBA Trade Deadline for the Lakers, they waited until the summer and got a godfather that really took the league aback. In the end, the Pelicans acquired Branon Ingram, Josh Hart, Lonzo Ball and three first-round picks from the Lakers.

Coincidentally, the Pelicans would also win the NBA Draft Lottery and come away with the No. 1 overall pick. Which leads us to the biggest question that will be haunting this team all season – is Zion a generational talent? He has earned the national attention and is, by far, the rookie with the biggest hype coming in the league since LeBron James. However, is he ready to be the centerpiece of an NBA franchise?

If Zion shows out during his rookie season and appears to be the player that many expect him to be, the Pelicans have a bright future ahead of them. However, that’s not a foregone conclusion. And all eyes will be on Zion, and he’ll be critiqued for every little thing he does wrong.
