Can Collin Sexton, Darius Garland be the next great young backcourt?
The Cleveland Cavaliers elected to take the best player available approach when they selected Darius Garland with the No. 4 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. Which came to the surprise to some, but it helped bring together quite the intriguing backcourt heading into the 2019-20 season.
As talents alone, no one is denying that Sexton and Garland will be two good – perhaps great – guards in their respective rights. However, the big question for the Cavs this season will revolve around whether Sexton and Garland can coexist on the basketball court together.
If so, the Cavs could be one of the most interesting teams to follow in the Eastern Conference this season. There have been questions about the young duos fit – and Garland was held out of Summer League, so we still haven’t seen him against live NBA competition – but Cleveland is hoping that talent wins out.
Cleveland may not win many games this upcoming season, but there’s no question that there will be eyes on this team. With one of the primary reasons being Collin Sexton and Darius Garland.
