Denver Nuggets

Do they have enough star power?

After a historic regular season performance last season, I’m not sure there will be many pundits questioning the Denver Nuggets as they head into 2019-20. However, with that said, I don’t think there will be many picking this team to make the NBA Finals. And a big reason why is because this team simply doesn’t have the star power as some of their peers do in the Western Conference.

The Lakers have LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The Clippers have Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. The Rockets have Russell Westbrook and James Harden. Even the Jazz have Mike Conley and Donovan Mitchell.

For the average fan, they probably can’t name many Nuggets players beyond Paul Millsap (if that) and a (Nikola) Jokic. The NBA has and always been a star-driven league, though. Especially when it comes to the playoffs. With that said, they have some budding stars on their roster – in addition to Jokic. Jamal Murray is coming off a sensational year and superb showing in the playoffs, and Michael Porter Jr. is probably the player on this roster with the highest ceiling.

All eyes will be on the Nuggets this season, but if they’re going to be successful they’re going to need another player beyond Jokic to step up in a big way.
