Breakout candidate: Dejounte Murray

I firmly believe that Dejounte Murray was on his way to having a breakout season entering last season. However, it’s something that we never saw come to fruition due to a season-ending injury that he sustained before the start of the regular season. Now, the stage is set for Murray to pick up where he left off for the San Antonio Spurs.

During his second season in the league, Murray averaged eight points and six rebounds on 44 percent shooting from the field. He wasn’t this explosive scorer or this super-efficient player, but did enough – and flashed on occasion – to where you could see the potential.

As he essentially enters year three, Murray could have a breakout year for a team that desperately needs a young star to help rejuvenate and, perhaps most importantly, to raise this team’s ceiling this year.
