Breakout candidate: Darius Garland

The Cleveland Cavaliers are an interesting young team that should definitely be somewhat high on everyone’s NBA League Pass Watchability rankings. And there’s no question that all eyes will be on rookie guard Darius Garland this season, for a number of reasons.

First, there is great potential as he begins his career next to Collin Sexton. Garland was one of my favorite players coming out of the draft and I believe he’s going to thrive in the league. Even though we didn’t see much of him during his lone season in college, I believe he’s the player on this team with the highest ceiling.

If Garland can work his way to earn the big minutes that come with a player drafted in the top 10, there’s no question that he’s going to be able to put up the numbers – and highlights – that come with being a breakout player.

My gut tells me that by the end of this season, Garland will be the clear franchise player of the Cavaliers. But that’s not a knock on Sexton or Kevin Love, it’s a testament to the talent that Garland is.
