Hassan Whiteside, Portland Trail Blazers

Perhaps you might think that Hassan Whiteside doesn’t deserve to be on this list, but, whether you like it or not, he’s one of the most polarizing figures in the NBA today. He’s also expected to be a free agent this summer, and there’s a good chance that the Portland Trail Blazers will move on from the big man.

Considering their salary cap situation, and especially if they intend on keeping both CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard, the Blazers aren’t in a position where they can extend Whiteside if he’s looking for another big payday. And depending on his market, that could change.

However, there’s a good chance that Whiteside could find a richer offer elsewhere during the summer. Averaging 16 points, 14 rebounds, and three blocks per game on 61 percent shooting from the field, you’d expect him to get a big-money offer from some other team.

Even as the NBA shifts away from the traditional big man, there’s still room for Whiteside in today’s game. And it doesn’t look like it will be in Portland next season.
