Michael Jordan and gambling

The fact that they had David Stern in the gambling tidbit is…let’s say…interesting. It’s probably something the documentary will hopefully touch later on in other episodes.

Michael Jordan was one of the most competitive players in NBA history – and it went further than just on the basketball court. Michael loved to win and loved to gamble.

After taking a trip to Atlantic City during the team’s ECF series against the Knicks in the 1993 playoffs, Jordan had to answer questions about his gambling to the media. It clearly was not something he was interested in doing, or perhaps something that he thought would even become an issue.

Nevertheless, being in the limelight as the greatest player to ever play in the NBA, it’s not surprising to see the media flock to such a story. After all, the Bulls were down 2-0 to the Knicks and many smelled blood on the potential dynasty of the Bulls.

Instead, Michael responded the only way he knew how – by winning on the basketball court. The Bulls would win four-straight games en route to their third NBA Championship in a row. And the focus went back to basketball.
