What should the New York Knicks do with Randle?
What the Knicks want to do is add shooting and floor-spacing around their budding duo, so why not try to use Randle to do so?
Randle is now a bit of a throwback power forward and his value has taken a hit because he hasn’t become that Draymond Green type of player everyone thought he might with the Lakers. There might be a spot where Randle can be a valuable, and net the Knicks an actual contributor in return.
That spot is the Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets are one of the best teams up-and-coming teams in the league and their veteran forward Paul Millsap is about to be a 36-year-old free agent.
In the past, there have been rumors that the Nuggets have been interested in Randle. It might be wise for them to target Randle to get Millsap’s production at a younger age and insurance in case the team’s other forward Jerami Grant leaves.
Acquiring Randle would mean that he would come into Denver, be asked to score a bit, and rebound a little just like Millsap, rather than trying to be the central focus of an offense. Looking at Randle’s career production it actually isn’t that different from Millsap’s.
The only difference would be that Randle lacks the ideal shooting touch from three that Millsap had, but the Nuggets are a great team for player development and could actually improve Randle’s shooting better than New York. After all even Millsap didn’t become a viable 3-point shooter until after the age of 26.
