17. Minnesota Timberwolves (via Brooklyn) – RJ Hampton, G, New Zealand
How about the Minnesota Timberwolves trotting out a lineup of D’Angelo Russell, RJ Hampton, Josh Okogie, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Onyeka Okongwu? That sounds more like an NBA 2K lineup more than anything, but could be a possibility should Hampton be on the board when the Wolves pick at No. 17.
Remember, Hampton has top tier talent. The consistency simply hasn’t been there, but there is some resemblance of star potential.
18. Dallas Mavericks – Tyrese Maxey, G, Kentucky
I have my doubts that Tyrese Maxey would even still be on the board in the real draft, but have him still here at No. 18 when the Dallas Mavericks pick would be a huge win. Maxey is a natural scorer that would fit right next to Luka Doncic. Playing next to Luka and Kristaps, he won’t be asked to do much and could fit a microwave offensive role quite well.
Maxey showed good promise during his lone season at Kentucky and with the way recent Kentucky picks have gone (Devin Booker, Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro), could even be a better pro.
