2. Detroit Pistons – Anthony Edwards, G, Georgia
The Detroit Pistons would love to get a chance to draft LaMelo Ball – he’d be an interesting fit next to Blake Griffin and would significantly take the pressure off on the offensive end – but adding an NBA-ready player like Anthony Edwards is a good consolation prize. After jumping into the top 3, the Pistons coming away with possibly the best overall prospect in the draft would be a win.
Edwards is coming off a freshman season in which he averaged 19 points, five rebounds, and three assists per game on 40 percent shooting from the field. He’s a professional scorer and really just needs to work on decision-making and overall efficiency. He has a natural scoring ability, which any team should love.
Edwards could come in and be a second or third option to Blake and could grow to become the new face of the Pistons should he blossom in the NBA. Edwards in the top 3 is considered somewhat of a “safe pick” but the Pistons should take it. With the way the team has drafted recently, adding somewhat of a “sure thing” would be a breath of fresh air.
