Philadephia 76ers get: RJ Barrett, Kevin Knox, Mitchell Robinson, the 8th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, and Taj Gibson

New York Knicks get: Joel Embiid

The New York Knicks need to make a splash to prove that they are a franchise on the come up. Landing Russell Westbrook would make a splash. Landing Russell Westbrook and Joel Embiid would be a God damn Tsunami!!!

Two of the most polarising players on the planet on one team. What’s not to love? New York would be on fire with this duo.

The New York Knicks seemed to be in the hunt for Anthony Davis last season before he ended up with the Los Angeles Lakers meaning that they were willing to part with most if not all of their young prospects to land a transcendent star who will change the franchise overnight.

If they are willing, there is a former Leon Rose client in Philadelphia who is crying out for a change after years of underwhelming playoff runs with running mate and fellow superstar Ben Simmons, it might just be time for the 76ers to start things over and just rebuild the team around Simmons rather than trying to make it work with a less than motivated Embiid and a disgruntled All-NBA performer in Simmons.

Simmons seems like the better player to build around long term, so showing Embiid the door and picking up a ton of prospects in return could be a solid return for the 76ers.

They automatically get a young up and coming star in Mitchell Robinson who has All-Star potential if he is nurtured correctly.

You get a top 3 pick last year in RJ Barrett who also has All-Star potential and could be a great building piece moving forward for the 76ers, you get an expiring big man in Taj Gibson who they could potentially buy out upon trade and save millions,

Kevin Knox is still only 21 years old and extremely raw and the 8th overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft which they could use alongside a trade asset such as Josh Richardson to move up in the draft and take a prospect like LaMelo Ball (if he falls that far).

A starting 5 for the 76ers of:

C – Mitchell Robinson

PF – Ben Simmons

SF – Tobias Harris

SG – RJ Barrett

PG – LaMelo Ball, or another point guard from this draft

With Kevin Knox, Al Horford, Shake Milton, and Matisse Thybulle coming off the bench. A young team with great potential. With so much money tied up in Al Horford and Tobias Harris for the next four years, this gives the 76ers time to regroup, work on their young core, and build for the long-term.

For the Knicks, they decimate their young core but in exchange, they have the potential to become a force in the East. Joel Embiid, a Shaq like figure in the NBA. A dominant post player who can score at will in the paint.

Next. Brooklyn Nets: 3 stars that would fit next to Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. dark

Russell Westbrook, to a small extent a Kobe Bryant-esque player. Cold-Blooded Killer, kill or be killed mentality on the court and a player who never met a shot he didn’t like. It could be a modern-day Shaq and Kobe, it could also be an untold disaster. I think Knicks fans at this point, after so many years of mediocrity, would welcome this pairing with open arms.
