29. Toronto Raptors – Cassius Stanley, G, Duke
Much like many teams drafting at this point, the Toronto Raptors enter an offseason of financial decisions. Will they pay Fred VanVleet the big money that he’s likely to demand on the open market? Will the team keep Kyle Lowry or try to move him now that he’s considered an expiring contract?
Will they want to keep financial flexibility in an attempt to pursue Giannis Antetokounmpo during the summer of 2021? At the NBA Draft, don’t be surprised if they target a backcourt player with all that in mind. Cassius Stanley could be a fit for the team, as he’s coming off a season in which he averaged 13 points and five rebounds on 48 percent shooting from the field.
In the Raptors’ developmental system, Stanley is a player that could end up paying dividends down the road. Even though he’s far from a finished product as an NBA prospect at the moment, he could develop into a really good player down the line.
