30. Boston Celtics – Elijah Hughes, F, Syracuse

Selection and commentary: Mike Zakarian

The 6-foot-6 junior out of Syracuse should add some offensive firepower to the second unit of the Celtics. The playoffs have clearly pointed out that the Celtics have a deep fall off after their first six players. Currently, they are relying on guys like Brad Wannamaker to provide scoring and that’s just not great.

Hughes brings with him a silky-smooth jumper with a handle that can break down defenses. He is offensively gifted enough that he should be able to make an immediate impact for the Celtics off the bench. He might not have the ceiling of a superstar, but with the Celtics being in win-now mode, he should be an important asset in his rookie season.

With three first-round picks in the 2020 NBA Draft, it’ll be a huge win if they can snag one, at least, rotation players heading into next season.
