5. Cleveland Cavaliers – Obi Toppin, F, Dayton
With the likelihood that the Cleveland Cavaliers move on from at least one, or perhaps all three, of Andre Drummond, Kevin Love, and Tristan Thompson, it wouldn’t be all that surprising for the Cavs to take a chance on a big in the top 5. Obi Toppin could be in play.
Toppin is one of the most overlooked prospects in this draft and will be a good player for any team that ends up selecting him. Coming off an extremely productive sophomore season at Dayton, in which he averaged 20 points and eight rebounds on 63 percent shooting from the field and 39 percent shooting from 3-point range, Toppin could come in a play an immediate role for the Cavs.
Again, plenty of this depends on what the Cavs plan on doing with its frontcourt trio, but there’s a chance that Toppin is selected at No. 5 and be added to an already talented group of young players in Cleveland.
