16. Otto Porter Jr., player option
It would be surprising for Otto Porter Jr. to opt-out of the final year of his contract with the Chicago Bulls, but we’ve seen stranger things take place during an NBA offseason. With that said, if Porter does indeed opt-out or if he asks for an extension from Chicago, the team will have an interesting decision to make.
Porter is coming off a season in which he only played 14 games for the Bulls. Since being traded to the Bulls, he’s only played a combined 29 games. The fact that Chicago has to make a decision on him really isn’t fair. It would be huge if he were to opt-in for one more season with Chicago so they could get a better gauge on the player that he is.
With that said, Porter has the potential to be a really good wing player for any team. It might be in his best interest to return to Chicago for one more season (at least) to try and put together a great contract year heading into the summer of 2021.
