Why the Toronto Raptors should re-sign VanVleet: A proven track record

Fred VanVleet has consistently gotten better since joining the Raptors as he has proved his worth and should be viewed as an integral piece for this franchise. This past season was his first as a full-time starter and if his play continues to trend upward, his numbers will continue to improve as he will be a focal point getting his fair share of shot attempts.

As VanVleet’s minutes began to increase, so did his stats. From his rookie season in 2017 up until now, his increase in minutes played increased from 7.9 to 35.7 which is a 27.8 increase during that span. His scoring average increased from 2.9 to 17.6, an increase of 14.7.

VanVleet’s journey towards success is an astounding one going from rotational player off the bench to full-time starter. He could easily have been selected to the NBA All-Star team with the kind of season he had. A lot of VanVleet’s value doesn’t show up in the statistics.

He has valuable playoff experience with a championship under his belt which is priceless and will be worth whatever salary he agrees to.
