Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors
The reason for Stephen Curry being on this list overlaps with the guy mentioned just previously, his former teammate Kevin Durant. Pre-KD, Curry was the back-to-back regular-season MVP.
In one of those MVP campaigns, the Golden State Warriors won the NBA Championship and in the other, they tallied a record-breaking 73 regular-season victories. With KD’s departure, the belief was that Steph would return to MVP form, but it was also believed that he would have Klay Thompson by his side.
Unfortunately, Klay will be spending this year following in KD’s footsteps, recovering from an Achilles injury, after spending last year recovering from a torn ACL. With defenses being able to focus all of their attention on Steph will he still be able to have the dominant season that was expected?
