Jarrell Brantley

A second-round pick out of the College of Charleston, Jarrell Brantley is a unique prospect that will blossom into a rotation player. At 6-foot 6 and 250 pounds, Brantley is built like a tight end but has a really good handle to go along with plus athleticism. Brantley can get to the paint with these has the ability to finish with both hands. What I like most about Brantley is his position flexibility.

On defense, Brantley can guard 4s and small-ball 5s but can also guard 2s and 3s on the perimeter with his size and frame. On the offensive end, he could be a primary ballhandler, a pick and roll/pop guy, or even be an off-ball shooter in the corner. He has the makings of a player that can do just about anything.

Last year while playing for the Utah Jazz G League, Brantley destroyed the competition (18.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game) and was named a G League All-Star. The Jazz is hoping that level of production can continue in the NBA. Brantley will have to adjust to not being the main scoring option on the floor and improve his shooting percentages. But Brantley has a PJ Tucker-like skill set that should fit well in many lineups.

The Jazz have a deep rotation and it’ll be hard for Brantley to break in (especially early on the season), but I expect him to shine when he gets his opportunity and give the Jazz a huge boost off the bench come playoff time.
