New York Knicks’ encouraging sign No. 1: Immanuel Quickley

A couple of years after finding Mitchell Robinson at the end of the 2018 NBA Draft, it appears that the New York Knicks have done it again. Quickley was a late first-round pick in the 2020 NBA Draft but has been one of the best rookies in the league this season.

Thorugh the first quarter of the season, Quickley already has a 30-point game and three 20-plus point performances. On the season, he’s averaging 12 points per game on 41 percent shooting from the field and 37 percent shooting from 3-point range. Mind you, he’s doing this in just 19 minutes per contest.

I understand why head coach Tom Thibodeau doesn’t want to put too much on the rookie’s plate, but there’s a good chance that New York has hit an absolute home run with Immanuel Quickley. As the season goes on, don’t be surprised if Quickley’s role with the team continues to grow. He appears to be a good one and might be the steal of the 2020 NBA Draft.
