NBA All-Star snubs: Trae Young, Atlanta Hawks
Atlanta fans are reasonably distraught after not receiving any All-Star nominations across their roster leaving them with no representation in their home city for the game. The Atlanta Hawks have struggled and then some this season, with team leaders butting heads and the system simply not functioning properly.
While Atlanta’s lack of success most certainly is a case for them being without an All-Star this season, Trae Young‘s individual performance arguably outweighs the opposition. Trae Young is one of the most elite shooters and scorers in the league in only his third season. Young is dropping 27 a night with a 9.5 assists per game average making him one of the best on the offensive side of basketball.
His struggles lie defensively and he can have nights where he doesn’t reach his typical offensive numbers. It is these factors coupled with the Hawks’ failure to transition from a rebuilding team to an up-and-coming one that will keep Trae out of his home arena on March 7th. His case, individually speaking, was certainly made and present, but there were simply better guards in the east this year with more successful teams.
