Teams that should target DeMarcus Cousins: Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets are competing for a championship this season, that much is clear. The James Harden trade put them on the map as a legitimate threat to win it all, and anything less could be considered a failure by the Nets organization this season.

While the trade certainly strengthened the team’s cause, it also cut out a chunk of its depth. The major loss was on the defensive end and the frontcourt, as the team lost Jarrett Allen to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Allen is thriving over in Cleveland, with Brooklyn looking for a player to fill the void.

A player with the talent of Andre Drummond would be nice for Brooklyn, however, signing DeMarcus Cousins would be just as beneficial. Cousins can be a defensive anchor at times, averaging 1.2 blocks per game on his career total.

He can also provide an offensive boost to the bench unit if played alongside the reserves, making up for some of the slack when the three superstars are sitting. His offensive and defensive awareness would make him a valuable asset to the team, taking a load off DeAndre Jordan who has had to carry most of the frontcourt duties since the departure of Allen.
