NBA teams that need to make a trade: Dallas Mavericks
At the moment, It’s clear that the Dallas Mavericks are not good enough to compete for a title that doesn’t bode well for Luka Doncic. Even though this is Luka’s fourth season in the NBA and is only 22 years old, anything short of a deep playoff run is a failure for Mark Cuban’s franchise.
The Dallas front office did not do a good job this past offseason getting a second star for Luka or creating a team suited for his skillset. They are feeling the pains of that lack of urgency this season.
The Mavs are currently 20-18, good for fifth in the West. They have been exactly the type a team their record suggests they are: a .500 basketball team.
Part of their lack of success can be attributed to injuries and covid cases, but every team has dealt with their fair share of injuries and covid absences this season, so that’s not a valid excuse.
With their current roster right now, they won’t find much success in the playoffs, if any at all. If the front office doesn’t try to make some changes, the Mavs will finish the season the same way they have the past two seasons: a first-round playoff exit.
